Beowulf

Year 4 have been reading an old Viking poem retold by Lloyd Jones for our writing lessons.

Fearsome monsters stalk the moors of ancient Denmark, murdering anyone they catch. But then a warrior comes from overseas. His name is Beowulf. He kills monsters…’

Year 4 have fully immersed themselves into this book, recreating tension, acting out powerful verbs and using a special writing technique called show me not tell me in their own supernatural narrative.

Mohammed said, “I really enjoyed the chaos of the story and the powerful actions.”

Tyreece said, “Beowulf is one of my favourite stories as I like this type of genre, I wish to be as successful as Beowulf.”

Orla said, “I loved this story because of the tension, I really didn’t know what to expect.”

Chetachi said, “I like this this story because the battles were action packed and the descriptions made me feel as though I was in the story.”
