Working Together for Success

Computing

At Peel Hall, Computing is taught both as a stand-alone subject and throughout other subjects. It is a vital part of the National Curriculum, which provides children with essential life skills. Due to this, all pupils begin using computers as soon as they enter Peel Hall, with computers set up for children to use in the Nursery and Reception classrooms. We also have an ICT suite that all classes have weekly access to, as well as a set of laptops. Classes are well equipped with interactive smartboards and ipads which can be used by both the staff and children alike.

To help teach computing, teachers use Purple Mash, which allows all children to have their own account to access games and activities to aid their learning. Teachers sometimes also use this to set homework. Children can access this from home by logging in at: https://www.purplemash.com/sch/peel-m22

To assess children’s development against these objectives, we use ‘Classroom Monitor,’ which teachers regularly update. This is then monitored every half-term by myself, the Computing co-ordinator, Miss Sultan, to ensure that coverage and children’s attainment are robust and secure.
