This half term we have studying the work of an abstract artist, called Wassily Kandinsky. He was one of the early abstract artists to be famous. He was born in Minsk and during his life also lived in Moscow, and Odessa.
The children have been learning how to use a range of different mediums to create their abstracts. They have used their skills of blending, smudging and colour mixing to create depths of colour and have learned how to choose the correct pens to create thick and thin lines, dots and dashes to build up an abstract piece of work. The children have modelled their own work on these Kandinsky paintings below: –
Here are our finished versions!
The children have settled into Year 1 extremely well and all seem to be enjoying the continuous provision style of learning.
So far we have been learning about our bodies and identifying the different body parts. We have focused on faces and how they look with different emotions. We have represented this in drawings, paint and even on the computer! We have also looked at different ways that we travel to school, and have created pictograms to show this data.
Next we will be exploring our senses, and finding out more about the local area.
