Attendance Information.
Our attendance target is 97% for the next academic year 2019-2020.
The whole school target achieved this year from September 2018 to the end of term July 2019 was only 94.4% We acknowledge this is below our target, but there are some justifiable reasons. As an inclusive school, we have some children with medical issues who have genuine illnesses, which require them to be off school for longer periods of time.
However, a significant issue for our school is parents taking children out of school during term time for holidays. It must be made clear now, that governors will not allow the head teacher to authorise any holiday absence during term time as this would condone children missing valuable aspects of their education.
The school employs an Attendance Officer, who is part of the safeguarding team, who will support the school in implementing in full the new attendance policy. This is to reduce the amount of absence that some children experience, which causes them to fall into a Persistent Absentee category and therefore reduces their opportunities to experience success in education and achieve their full potential.
