Our Foundation Stage children enjoyed making a scarecrow for our Harvest Celebrations. We talked to the children about some of their favourite characters and came to the decision to make scarecrows to represent Elsa and Anna from the Disney film Frozen.
All of the children in Nursery and Reception took part in the creation of making the scarecrow using some of their Expressive Arts and Design skills.
We then entered the scarecrow in to a competition and were very pleased when we heard the news that we had won and had been invited to Wythenshawe Forum tenant’s conference to go and collect the award.
Two School Council members were selected from a hat to go and collect the award. We had a brilliant morning at the conference which was attended by 250 people from the local community. We enjoyed hearing about how the local community had come together in the recent events of the Manchester Arena attack earlier this year, and also about the Jo Cox charity and local fundraising celebrations.
We were called up to collect our award and the children were fantastic and brilliant representatives to the school. They received lots of compliments from members of the public about how polite and smart they were.
Here are some photographs of us collecting the award. As well as the trophy to take back to school, they also got to take home a balloon with the Manchester Bee on, which they were thrilled about.
